On this Special
Occasion St Peter's Church was honored that the New Bishop of Lincoln,
The Rt. Revd John Saxbee and Mrs. Jenny Carpenter, Rural Officer of the
Methodist Church, had accepted our invitation to come and join with
Rev Bridget Hill and David Newlove (our Methodist minister) to
commemorate the huge task undertaken 125 years ago of moving St. Peter's
to it's present site.
The Bishop, Ministers,
Church Wardens and some members of the congregation walked
the half mile from St. Peter's Church to
The
Stump in glorious sunshine (joining the New to the Old) for the
short service conducted by Revds David Newlove and Bridget Hill
with the Bishop of Lincoln, Rt. Revd
John Saxbee.
A
good number of congregation from Saltfleetby, Saltfleet and
Theddlethorpe had gathered along with St. Peter's Choir for this service
and at the end of the service seemed reluctant to leave such a peaceful
place. The
Bishop, Ministers, Church Wardens and many of the congregation then
walked back to St. Peter's Church (joining the Old back to the New).
