It is with Great Sadness that I have to announce the Death of Ethel
Lusby on the 6th November 2005 - A Wonderful Talented Lady, who took
such an interest in our village life and contributed so much to it, and
to this website, with her Poems and Photos. - We send our Deepest
Sympathy to Ethel's Family, she will be sadly missed by all who loved
and knew her, I personally feel privileged to have met her.
For this reason I have now started a 'Poems' Section within
'Memories' Dedicated to the Memory of Ethel Lusby.

Ethel's
poem set me thinking, "What
Memories would I have if I were to leave the village?" : -
One
of my biggest Memory of Saltfleetby would have to be the SKY!
 |
It's
Huge, Beautiful and Always changing! |
 |
Have
you ever noticed how the 'tramlines' from a plane look as if they are coming down to
earth, not going across the sky?
On a frosty winters night when the sky is full of stars, look up and just
watch for those shooting stars: - I remember our first Christmas here,
walking home with my son and his family from a firework display at the
Prussian Queen, it was a frosty starlight night and we all just stood
and watch in amazement at the amount of shooting stars in the sky. In my
** years I have seen the odd one or two shooting stars, but never as
many all at one time, as over Saltfleetby that night.
 |
Another memory would be the Swans
on the Mar Dyke and the Barn Owl's working the field
at the back of our bungalow with me desperately trying to get a
good photo of them! I will get it one day! And when I do I will
share it with you.. |
 |
And
last but by no means least the People of this Marsh Village, for their
Kindness, Caring
and Friendship.
