PROGRESS OF SALTFLEETBY VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE
The present committee was formed in September 2003 after a public meeting had been called to discuss the future of the Village Hall, and consists of the following: - Mrs. Dawn Tate, Mr. Aubrey Atkinson, Mr. Colin Vickers, Mrs. Christine Balabanoff, Mrs. Evelyn Vickers, Mr. Rob Covill, Mrs. Chrystal Henderson. and Mr. Andrew Humberstone. The aim of the committee is to maintain the present hall in a good state of repair in order that it once more becomes a viable proposition, and to this end we have almost completed a full re-decoration of the exterior and interior of the building. A new kitchen and cloakroom floor have been installed, together with new kitchen units, and our very grateful thanks go to Dave Cartwright who overcame many unforeseen obstacles in the fitting of these, a job which he has done free of charge. Thank you once again Dave. Over the past year there have been several fund raising events in support of the hall, and at the moment our bank balance looks fairly healthy. At present the hall is used in the evenings on a weekly basis by the “Pop-in” club each Wednesday, dancing on Thursday and the auction Friday. The hall is also used by the W. I. and the Parish Council on a monthly basis. With crockery and cutlery included in the hire charge of £4 per hour, with a minimum charge for parties of £10 , what better place to hold your children’s’ birthday parties etc. If you wish to see the facilities we have to offer, please contact Colin Vickers at The Angel, Tel. 338397 (next door to the village hall) or any committee member. As most people are aware, this building has been in use since 1947, and being a timber structure will not last much longer, so the committee are hoping to raise funds for the erection of a new hall. In fact, this fundraising has been underway since July 2003 and to date we have a total of £993-99. We are hopeful that monies left over from the Saltfleetby Gala of many years ago will also be transferred to the fund, and in the meantime we look forward to our first fundraising event of 2004 which is a cheese and wine party in the village hall on the 31st January.
