The Unexpected arrives on the beach: - part three

The beginning of 2003 was a time of great worry for the Nature Reserve. Oil was being washed ashore and posing a threat to wildlife.

Staff and Volunteers had an unenviable job on their hands

They set about the task of trying to clear this thick black oil, which look easy enough to shovel up, that was until it was half on the shovel when it would turn back to runny oil!

It took a lot of hard work and dedication by the Staff and Volunteers, but they did it and the beach is clean again.

Well done to all concerned.
